Science Gallery Venice will host its first full season in the beginning of 2020, on the theme of ILLUSION. The gallery’s future home at the Ca’ Foscari San Basilio area will soon begin renovation work. The 19th century former cheese warehouse will be reborn in 2021 as a center for art, performance, and interaction around the themes of scientific knowledge, sustainability, digital humanities and cultural heritage. We’re looking for students and young people to help us imagine and visualize this future life of the gallery through digital works to be presented during ILLUSION at its temporary exhibition space in the Ca’ Foscari Zattere - CFZ.
Science Gallery at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the Digital Exhibit Master at Iuav are excited to invite you to take part in a 2 day hackathon open to students as well as young professionals who are passionate about digital exhibits. During the hackathon participants will learn the basics to create a digital installation from scratch, starting from the concept, ending up gaining the knowledge, skills and tools that are needed to take an idea into (virtual) real life. Participants will be divided into small groups and will start from the analysis of a crucial architectural element of the future building of Science Gallery Venice that will be presented by the HACKami staff and will be asked to find an innovative, engaging and immersive way of digitally presenting that specific element to a broader public. One project will have the incredible opportunity to be selected and funded to become one of the artworks of the first Science Gallery Venice season ILLUSION!
